A-Coat - Aluminum Coating Technology
DESCRIPTION:
Our A-Coat surface treatment is using a plasma thermo-chemical process which takes place in electrolytic bath. The result is a thick coating with good wear and corrosion resistant properties. Through the control of the electrical parameters and the composition of the electrolyte the coating can be designed for specific material substrates and applications.
PROPERTIES:
- Microhardness: 1400-1800 HV50 grams
- Thickness: up to 100 µm
APPLICATIONS:
- Tribological, wear and corrosion resistant coatings on Al alloys and Mg alloys for components in aerospace, marine and automotive industries.
1. Anti-fretting wear - modified ASTM G77-97
Results: Average friction force of 1.5 lbs., COF of 0.03
2. Anti-friction - ASTM G99 (sapphire pin)
Results: no wear marks

3. Corrosion resistance - ASTM B-117 / 07
Results: coating not corroded after 400 hrs.
CASE STUDIES:
1. Deposition on steel substrates

Properties:
- thickness: min. 50 µm
- microhardness: min. 1100 HV50
2. Coating internal surfaces of Aluminum tubes

Properties:
- Substrate: 7075 alloy
- Average thickness: 70 - 4 µm (uniform distribution)
- Microhardness: 1300 HV50
The coating was uniformly distributed along the length of the cylinder with no build up at the edges.
